manufacture sterling silver, or silver-plated on nickel, handled knives to compliment traditional English and European patterns.  Our knives are made in our own factory in Sheffield, England, the traditional home of the cutlery industry.  Our factory was established in 1898 and we have been making hand-crafted knives for over 110 years using original hand-cut dies.
None of our knives are out-sourced.

so often happens that a beautiful set of table cutlery has no knives, or only part sets of knives, due to deterioration or by simply being ‘lost’.  Materials used for both handles and blades in days gone by were not as long lasting as the silver used to make the other pieces.  Handles were frequently made of ivory or bone; blades were carbon steel.  So where you may have a complete suite of spoons and forks handed down through the generations, very frequently the knives have not stood the test of time. Ivory and bone handles are no longer available.  Carbon steel is no longer desirable.
